Kaiser- Wilhelm- Gedächtniskirche Breitscheidplatz
In the centre oft he Berlin west, where Tauentzienstrasse and Kurfürstendamm meet, the Kaiser- Wilhelm- Gedächtniskirche was built in the neoromanic fashion according to plans by F. Schwechten. Completely destroyed by bombs in 1943 the tower remained a scantily supported fragment and became a monument tot he war and a landmark of western part of Berlin. What we see today is a contrasting symbiosis of old and new shaped in 1961. Since 1987 the entrance hall oft he tower contains a memorial that shows photographs from the churches history.

Im Zentrum des Berliner Westens, am Treffpunkt von Tauentzienstrasse und Kurfürstendamm, errichtete man 1891 – 95 die neoromanische Kirche nach Plänen von F. Schwechten. 1943 von Bomben völlig zerstört, stand sie über ein Jahrzehnt notdürftig gesichert und wurde so zum Mahnmal und Wahrzeichen des westlichen Berlins. Seit 1961 steht an der Seite der Ruine der Neubau von E. Eiermann. Seit 1987 befindet sich im Eingang der Turmruine eine Gedenkhalle in der die Geschichte der Kirche dokumentiert wird.
